• 800 tribal families residing at Kodaikanal without electricity received solar lanterns with the support of the Korea Green Foundation, S. Korea.
• CHANARD processes the produced honey in the processing centre at Batlagundu and markets the honey through Kodai Kaffee Kadai. It is an initiative of CHANARD to launch and promote honey collection among the tribal communities to increase their income.
The processing unit is functioning with the active participation and involvement of the tribe. In the coming months, CHANARD proposes to establish tribal clusters to collect honey from the forest using the box method, instead of the traditional honey collection method. Now CHANARD is marketing the processed honey through Kodai Kaffee Kadai; this unit is supported by NABARD under the UPNRM Scheme.
